libboost-mpi1.46-dev software package provides C++ interface to the Message Passing Interface (MPI), you can install in your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libboost-mpi1.46-dev
libboost-mpi1.46-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libboost-mpi1.46-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libboost-mpi1.46-dev *
You will get with libboost-mpi1.46-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
